about

Paul Downing & Bernard O’Neill have been working together for many years. They’re used to working remotely over the past seven years since Bernard moved from London UK to France. The Covid 19 lockdown of 2020 prompted an Isolation Project between the two which has yielded a rich harvest.

The foundation stone of all of the pieces of music is a drone that was created by the two artists for a previous project called Remote View. These drones were created using a real analog synthesizer, old school.

The individual musicians then improvised on an instrument of choice and passed the other musician the complete performance that was then reacted to or suggested a response. The various duets were then divided up between Paul and Bernard to share the mixing duties.

Improvisation is not an exact science but it allows performance to develop in its own time and space. In the case of this project it is impossible to be certain which instrument was laid down first, such is the synergy between these two friends. We hope you enjoy it!
